Wesley Carter – On the Scene March 6, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 5:09 pm

Wow. Wednesday, was probably the best 48 hours of my life so far.

It was amazing to see how my wife triumphed over her contractions, only to get an epidural and then just as the real “work” began it seemed it had worn off. She was ready and battled it out. It was amazing seeing this little guy slowly inch his way into the world with the help of his Momma.

I was the “counter” in the process as well as helping Laura keep her legs up in the pushing position. I was trying to really get into the counting and on the third or fourth push I’d make the counting sound really dramatic. I think it helped.

Well, right when I started to seee his head coming out I was getting really excited. The excitement went right to my head and I started counting longer than I should have. You see, in labor and delivery, they only know how to count to 8. I would push it to ten, just so I could get that last bit out of her.

Once he was out, I had the most amazing moment. He was crying away and wailing because of the bathing and all the trauma he’d just gone through. I walked over to him mid-cry and just said “Hey Wesley, this is your daddy.” As soon as he heard my voice he stopped crying and started to look around with his crazy little eyes. From there on out he was pretty calm when I was holding him and passing him around.

Well that’s it I just can’t type anymore in fear of some of you crying into your keyboards and having water damage to your computers.

Thanks for all the continued well wishes and congratulations. It’s amazing to see how many of you care and love Wesley like we do.

Saved by the bell and lolly pops March 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 9:16 am

Well were in the home stretch here. Laura was quietly laboring all morning while watching her favorite morning entertainment: “saved by the bell”.

Ironically it was the episode where Zach and Slater end up with Kelly’s little brother for a great 25 minute drama. Zach starts daydreaming about what it would be like to be a father.he and Slater encounter all kinds of obstacles. It seems just like yesterday I was thinking the same thing.

Laura’s been eating her lollypop since they don’t let you eat anything of substance. It’s crazy that soon we’ll be giving something like this to our boy to calm him down when he’s in pain after his shot.

Well hopefully my next post will include the offical stars and maybe a pic or two.

Till then keep following the twitter/facebook feeds.

Just another reason I love my wife March 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 12:39 am

She’s a trooper. Every 5-8 minutes she’s getting some serious contractions followed by some cramps. I’ve been timing with my iphone, of course.  We’re calling the doctor to see if we should go the hospital now or wait it out a little more. She didn’t answer so we’re waiting for a call back. Laura’s mom is on here way here and should arrive around 1am.

Somehow I knew that this little guy would be a nightowl and decided to come in the middle of the night.

More later.

Mario Kart for the Win! March 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 11:47 pm

Still chuging along – we’re going to play some Mario Kart to help her not focus on anything and relax. Not a problem with me! I’m sipping up my coffee and trying to be supportive when she needs it.

Getting Closer…? March 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 10:32 pm

OKay. I’m starting to get a little excited. Better get the coffee brewing now this could be a long night.

Laura is now watching the shocking Bachelor part two interview.  If I have to listen to this guy blather on about his feelings I may go into labor. I’m rubbing her back so this is the only reason that I’m watching this stuff.

Oh, BTW yes I’m making you get a twitter account. twitter.com/littlegraham

Come on if my kid is doing it so can you!

Let the birthing process begin! March 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — timothygraham @ 10:06 pm

Well, we thought we’d start a birth blog inspired by our good friends (Licitira’s).

As I sit here typing , laura is on her birth ball watching American Idol. She’s having contractions lasting about a minute and averaging around 25-35 minutes apart. Who knows if this little guy will come late tonight or tomorrow?

I’ll try and keep updating the blog, although for up to the minute updates follow him on twitter here www.twitter.com/littlegraham

Here she is in all her glory (she gave me permission):
